Just doing the research for this article has been enlightening! We downloaded a lot of apps that sounded cool and tested them. We can safely say we made some really exciting discoveries and we now have a few brand new favorite apps on our list. Check them out and be prepared to get into some new healthy habits with these very helpful free mobile apps. This is a beautiful relaxation app that usually costs $49.99/year, but its creators are generously offering a free year of use for everyone creating a new account in 2021. Their argument is that the pandemic is very challenging for all of us and we all need a boost of mental health. The app offers guided and unguided meditations suited to your profile and goals. It also creates personalized plans according to your needs and is a great resource for all kinds of sleeping sounds and meditations. This is an app designed to help you focus on your tasks instead of spending time on your phone. You also have an extra motivation to do so: by not touching your phone for a set amount of time, you help a plant grow. You start by growing an apple tree and you’re rewarded for your focus with coins. These coins help you buy other plants, such as cacti, coconut trees, and even a Christmas tree. By completing tasks, you also win badges. The app enables you to set an amount of time of your choice for each task and you can also track your daily stats. This is a very simple app to use. It connects to your Microsoft account and helps you keep and file all sorts of lists. You can easily check and uncheck solved items off your lists, so it works as a great shopping list. Now you can’t forget your shopping list at home anymore!Balance

Plant Nanny
Yet another plant loving app that is actually meant to help YOU! Plant Nanny is here to help you drink the amount of water you need every day. Just enter your weight and the amount of physical activity you do every day and Plant Nanny will tell you how much water you should drink.
Then you get to plant a seed that you water every time you drink water yourself. The app reminds you when you should have another glass. You also get rewards and gifts every day that allow you to grow different plants and create a greenhouse. Then you can unlock creatures and take part in all sorts of quests. It’s a very complex game for a simple reminder app. 🙂
MyFitnessPal
This is one of the most complex weight control apps out there. And it’s free! You can also go premium, but its free version is just amazing, too. You set up your profile by entering your weight, height, and desired weight. Then the app does the rest. Of course, not your workouts and healthy eating, but everything else. It takes care of everything you need to calculate in order to reach your ideal weight.
You enter everything you eat and the app calculates your calorie intake. It’s extremely easy to do this, because not only can you choose from a huge database of all types of foods, you can also scan the barcode of what you eat and you’ll find it there. Easy and surprising! Then the app is also connected to the health/workout app on your phone, so the calories you spend are also calculated and everything is done in real time, so you can always juggle with your calories so you can reach your goal for the day.
This app is huge, it also gives you recipes, plans that you can adopt, workout routines, every information you could possibly imagine about the foods you eat, reminders, a diary, a blog, a community, and you can even invite your friends to join the challenge. Should we go on?!
Musi
This app is a revelation! YouTube is now at your fingertips. Why? Because it connects to your YouTube account and you can search for any video/song, add it to your library, create playlists, AND you can even listen when your phone is locked. Don’t you just love that??
HabitBull
What are the good habits you’re trying to integrate in your life? Are there any bad habits you’d like to give up? HabitBull can help you change your habits by tracking your efforts. It is well known that achieving a streak can motivate you to continue with a good thing and HabitBull is here to document your journey.
You can enter new healthy habits that you want to implement or bad habits that you want to break. The choices are almost limitless! They can be related to money, health, self improvement, social life, work, housekeeping and so on. There are yes/no habits (I want to exercise every day/I don’t want to eat any sweets) and number habits (I want to study German for 2 hours every day). You can also create more complex habits, for instance “I want to go to the gym on Mondays and Thursdays”.
Mapster
“Remember that lovely place in Paris where we had that amazing foie gras?” “Yes!” “Where was that?” “Uhm… I can’t remember.” Do you ever have such conversations? Do you ever fall in love with a cafe or a quirky museum, but you just can’t find them again? I bet this happens to all of us. Well, to all of us who don’t use Mapster.
This lovely little app allows you to add all sorts of places you visit (hotels, swimming pools, restaurants, train stations, beaches, parks etc) on your map. This way, you can tie your memories to an address and visit places you loved once again. Or recommend them to others. By the way, you can also connect with your friends on Mapster. The world is now your oyster!
Virtual Cards
The simplest app on this list, Virtual Cards is nothing more and nothing less than what its name suggests: a virtual wallet that allows you to keep all your many cards. You probably have a few supermarket cards, half a dozen pharmacy cards, a few fashion store cards, and the list goes on. You never have them all on you because no regular wallet can hold that many cards, so it’s easy to get frustrated when you need one and of course you don’t have it.
Not any more! Virtual Cards is here to hold all your cards in one place: your phone. You can add any card here by scanning its barcode or entering it manually. You can also find offers provided by the issuing businesses. Thank us later!
The KeepCalling app
The KeepCalling app is free to download and you can use it for your international calling. It’s an exception on this list, but we couldn’t ignore the cool benefits that it can bring in your every day life, especially if you’re into international calling. After buying Voice Credit for it, you can start your conversations and you have all the freedom to call mobiles and landlines as well. So the app-to-app rule doesn’t count in this case. You’ll need a high-speed internet for proper functioning, but if you don’t have a stable connection, you can also use the Offline calling feature. This means that when an internet connection (Wi-fi or mobile data) is not available to call from the app, users can always use the closest access number to place a call. Oh, and the rates are totally accessible, the fact that you are paying for your calls, and that they’re not free won’t feel like a big problem, due to all the advantages you get along with having this app.
