Easter in isolation? Make the best of it!

Easter is coming! (Please read that like a GOT fan would) The pandemic situation is very serious all around the world, and we’re all doing the best we can to “flatten the curve”, but we can’t help but wonder: how are we going to spend the Easter holidays in isolation?

We love getting together with people during the holidays, so this social distancing could be the weirdest experience right now. Still, social distancing is just physical distancing, not a human one. Aaaand, there are still so many activities we can do around the house, to make it a celebration to remember.

Staying inside doesn’t have to mean an Easter weekend of boredom. So, here are some ideas on how to joyfully spend your Easter in quarantine.

  • Many churches are currently live-streaming their services, so you can “spend” Easter Sunday in famous cathedrals around the world if you want to.

  • If you have kids, you’ll walk the extra mile just to make them happy and keep them entertained. From letting them help you with the cooking and the baking, to a good old fashioned Easter egg hunt (in the yard, if you have one, indoors or even virtual), from making Easter decorations to playing with the gifts the Easter Bunny brought (and delivered at your door)… You have some options, so try making this special for everyone.

  • Several generations can still meet under the same roof (maybe called internet these days), share their thoughts and not feel separated. Go online and organize something!

  • It is essential that we take care of each other in these difficult times that, so maybe we can also prepare something nice for people we don’t personally know, but who are working for our well being. This Easter, make some cards with your kids for firefighters, police, medical professionals, grocery store employees, mailmen, pharmacists, etc – as well as elderly residents at nursing homes who are not able to be in contact with their loved ones. We may be distanced, but we can still come together to make this a peaceful, kind Easter!
